Life in modern society is complex. We are all exposed to mass media and the materialism it often promotes, along with social media and accounts that display seemingly-perfect lives. It’s common for us to get caught up in all of this, wishing we had the things we see behind screens or feeling sorry for our troubles without really seeing the big picture. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, there’s no better time to pause to reflect on our lives and all that we are fortunate enough to have. It is often the little things in life that provide us with the most joy, and our greatest obstacles that teach us the most about ourselves and life in general.
Here is a list (in no particular order) of some of the things I am grateful for:
-I live in a safe place with a loving family who would do anything for me.
-I have access to an abundance of clean, nourishing, and delicious food.
-I am in a relationship with someone who makes me ridiculously happy and loves me for who I am.
-I have had an education and have jobs and the privilege of choosing to be whatever I want in my life.
-My passions- cooking, creating recipes, yoga, veganism, photography, nature, music, etc.- and the fact that I can pursue them and share them with the world.
-My chronic digestive/health issues- without my struggles I don’t think I would have fully discovered my passions, and wouldn’t have as much drive to really seek out inspiration and beauty in day-to-day life.
What are YOU grateful for? Take some time to pause and write it down.
