“Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured.” ~B.K.S. Iyengar
Similar to nutritious and delicious food, yoga can play a huge role in the nourishment of both the body and the soul.
Contrary to what some may believe, yoga is something that any and everybody can do, from children to seniors, regardless of injury and activity level. There are various different styles of yoga, from vigorous power flows to restorative to pranayama (breath work) without asana (poses). Yoga has been used for centuries as a powerful healer of the mind, body and spirit, and it is modernly used as an excellent form of exercise as well.
I began practicing yoga eight years ago as a method of stress relief and exercise to help heal my body. My practice grew through the years as I attended various classes at different studios and ultimately developed a regular home practice.
I completed my 200-hr teacher training with Daniel Orlansky and Liz Owen at The Yoga of Energy Flow in Arlington, Massachusetts. Throughout the training, we explored the history and philosophy of yoga, the healing power of various forms of breath work, anatomy and the significance and methodology of proper alignment in postures, various healing massage techniques, and how it can all flow together to make a beautiful practice. I also completed my restorative yoga teacher training with Billie Joe Joy Yoga in December 2017.
